Am I missing any or should any of these be removed?  I haven't added any departments to the To-Do Web Alerts account yet.  I'll wait until we finalize a list.  Once they are added, then I'll send the email to the departments.

To-Do List Email
Here's the email draft I wrote to be sent to the departments, including a step-by-step how to (Am I too specific with formatting rules?).  Any changes?:

The Department of Public Relations and Communications would like to give your department the opportunity to add items to the TCNJ Student "To-Do List."  This is a section on the TCNJ Students Web page (http://www.tcnj.edu/students.html) that lists TCNJ-related to do items for students, given the time of year.  For example, as the registration window for a semester approaches, one item might be "View the Fall 2008 registration windows" with a link to the registration timetable Web page.

If your department has an item to add to the To-Do list, please follow the instructions below on how to use WebAlerts to add an item.  Previous To-Do list items have listed tasks involving buying and selling books, completing financial forms, signing up for the housing lottery, updating resumes, applying for on-campus jobs, etc.  These items should be formatted as a command directed at students, such as "Update your resume."

How to add an item to the TCNJ student "To-Do" list:
  1. Log in to your department's WebAlerts account
  2. Under "My Accounts," Find "To-Do List for TCNJ Students" and select "Announcements" on the right
  3. You will see a list of active To-Do list items, which are posted as Web Announcements.  Make sure that a similar item to the one you plan to post is not already listed
  4. To add a new list item, click "Add Announcement"
  5. Enter a Title in the form field.  The title is the text that will appear on the To-Do list on the TCNJ Students page.  Remember to:
--Format the title as a command (e.g. Buy books and supplies; Confirm our attendance)
    --Keep title short
--Capitalize only the first word and any proper nouns (e.g. Obtain your Fall 2008 parking deal)
    --Do not use end punctuation
  6. Enter text in the Description field (will not be seen by students)
  7. Chose an appropriate begin and end date to indicate when the item will be viewable on the "To-Do" list
  8. Enter an appropriate URL under "Include Link to Web Page" (e.g.  "Buy books and supplies" should link to http://tcnj.bncollege.com/).  The "To-Do" list item on the Student page will link to this URL.
  9. Leave image and audio/video fields empty
  10. Leave "Priority" set to normal and do not check any boxes under the press release and news channel fields
  11. Click "Save & Close"
If you have any questions, feel free to email me at plasket2@tcnj.edu.  You can also contact Matthew Winkel at winkelm@tcnj.edu.

Thank you!
